Suranga Kariyawasam
Owner & Founder, Galeeco Automotive
Suranga Kariyawasam is a mechanical engineer with over two decades of experience in the motor industry. His engineering background shapes how Galeeco and Wagstaff work: careful diagnostics first, then a repair done properly.
He founded Galeeco Automotive in March 2017 and has grown it into a multi-branch Auckland workshop specialising in diesel and truck repairs, engine and transmission rebuilds, European and Japanese vehicles, auto electrical and panel beating. Wagstaff is now part of that group.
Outside work, Suranga has a deep appreciation for automotive heritage, with a particular passion for restoring iconic vehicles such as the Land Rover Defender and the Mini Cooper, where precision, craftsmanship and attention to detail are paramount.
