How to choose a panel beater: 6 questions to ask

A good repair should be safe, structurally sound and invisible. These six questions help you tell a quality panel shop from an average one.

1. Are you approved by my insurer?

An authorised repairer can deal with your insurer directly, which usually makes the claim simpler for you.

2. Are your technicians trained and accredited?

Look for industry accreditation. For example, Wagstaff is a Structural Repair Centre, a member of the Collision Repair Association and the Motor Trade Association, and our technicians hold I-CAR NZ qualifications.

3. How do you check structural damage?

Modern cars need accurate measuring after an impact. We use Car-O-Liner chassis measuring systems to confirm a repair is complete and safe.

4. What paint system do you use?

Ask about the paint and colour matching. We use PPG Envirobase waterborne paint systems, which are high performance and eco-friendly.

5. Do you offer a courtesy car and towing?

These make the repair far easier to live with. We offer towing, collection and delivery, and a large fleet of courtesy cars including passenger, SUV and ute (T&Cs apply).

6. Do you specialise in my type of vehicle?

We specialise in European, American and Japanese vehicles, from minor to major accident repairs.
