The short answer: make everyone safe, gather the details, call your insurer for a claim number, then call a repairer to arrange towing or drop-off. Here is the process in more detail.
1. Make sure everyone is safe
Check for injuries first and call 111 if anyone is hurt or the road is blocked. Move to a safe place if you can, and turn on your hazard lights.
2. Collect the details
- Photos of the damage, both vehicles and the scene
- The other driver's name, phone number and vehicle registration
- The time, place and a short note of what happened
- Contact details of any witnesses
3. Call your insurer
Contact your insurance provider and get your claim number. Wagstaff is an authorised repairer for almost every insurance provider, so we can work directly with your insurer once you have it.
4. Drop off or tow your car
Once you have your claim number you can bring the car to our workshop at 206 Marua Rd, Ellerslie, or call us and we will arrange for it to be towed.
5. Assessment, repair and handover
We assess the damage and quote your insurer, offer a courtesy car if you would like one, repair your vehicle with our qualified technicians and hand it back once we have checked the work is complete.
No insurance? We quote and invoice you directly. Call us on +64 9-579 1846 and we will talk you through it.
